Overview
Reaching the Sobrarbe is straightforward by car, with good road access from both Spain and France. The nearest airports are in Zaragoza and Lleida, while Barcelona and Toulouse offer additional international connections. From these cities, scenic drives lead through foothills, farmland and mountain valleys toward the Pyrenees.
Santa María de Buil is 20 minutes away from Aínsa, the main local service town with shops, restaurants and outdoor activity providers. The French border is roughly an hour away via the Aragnouet–Bielsa Tunnel, making day trips across the Pyrenees easy and rewarding. A car is strongly recommended, as it offers the freedom to explore villages, viewpoints, trailheads and lakes at your own pace.

Arriving from the North (France)
From Paris, follow directions toward Bordeaux, then continue via Limoges – Toulouse – Tarbes – Lourdes – Pau. Take A64 Exit 16 (Lannemezan) and follow the D929 toward Saint-Lary-Soulan and Spain (Tunel Aragnouet–Bielsa).
Winter note:
The tunnel is closed at night from 22:00 to 06:00. Snow chains are recommended, and closures may occur due to avalanche risk. Road status and updates can be checked at:

After exiting the Aragnouet–Bielsa Tunnel, continue until Aínsa. At the intersection, follow signs toward Barbastro. On the bridge over the Río Ara, take the small roundabout and turn right toward Guaso / Cañones de Guara / Arcusa. Pass Guaso and continue, bypassing Latorecilla on your left.
For Casa Peras
Turn left at the Santa María de Buil – Saratillo exit. Pass the water reservoir on your left and follow the road uphill. After the left curve, continue about 100 m and turn right at the marked driveway to Peras.
(If you reach the junction with Saratillo or arrive in the village, you have gone too far.)
For Casamigos
Turn left at the Santa María de Buil – Saratillo exit and drive toward Santa María de Buil. At the entrance of the village, take the gravel path on your right (opposite the first house). Follow it for about 100 m; Casamigos will be on your left.
For Casa Lueza
Continue past the driveway to Casamigos and drive into Santa María de Buil. Casa Lueza is located about 200 m further up the road, in the center of the village near the Romanesque church.
Arriving from the South (Spain)
From Barbastro, take the N-123 toward Benabarre for 8 km, then continue on the A-138 toward Aínsa / France (Bielsa). After about 54 km, you will reach Aínsa. Before crossing the bridge into town, take the roundabout and turn left toward Guaso / Arcusa / Cañones de Guara. Pass Guaso and Latorecilla, then turn left at the Santa María de Buil – Saratillo exit.
For Casa Peras
Turn left at the Santa María de Buil – Saratillo exit. Pass the reservoir, follow the road uphill, and after the left bend, continue 100 m to the marked driveway on your right.
(Do not continue to Saratillo or into the village.)
For Casamigos
Drive to Santa María de Buil. At the entrance of the village, take the gravel path on your right, across from the first house. Follow for 100 m; Casamigos will be on your left, slightly higher on the slope.
For Casa Lueza
Continue past the turnoff for Casamigos and enter the village. Casa Lueza is about 200 m further up the road, centrally located near the church.
