Casa Escuela Antigua de Mondot

The house is situated alone, at the edge of the village Mondot. No-one is living permanently in Mondot but in weekends and during holidays the village comes back to life. The previous inhabitants, who all migrated to bigger cities, then return to their ancestors´ houses.

Mondot is situated in a small beautiful valley, where a natural growth of Juniper, Oak and Rosemary is dominating the landscape. only interrupted closer to the villages by fields of Almond and Olive trees. This old village lies on a small winding road between Liguerre de Cinca and Arcusa, with a view on the villages Olson and Eripol. The Canyons of the Sierra de Guara are close by. Mondot is 20 minutes drive from Santa Maria de Buil, 45 minutes from Ainsa in the North and 45 minutes from Barbastro in the South.

A guide through the house

The house is the previous school of Mondot, in which there was a classroom with on the second floor the living space of the teacher or maestro. The interior of the house was restored with respect for the charm of the past. The warm colours create a very cosy atmosphere.

At the ground floor there is a big entrance, a bathroom and a 2 persons’ bedroom with private bathroom. At the first floor you find a kitchen dining room and sitting room combined in one open cosy space, a store room and 2 bedrooms for 2 persons each. One of the rooms has 2 bunk beds, the other room has 2 separate beds. There is a small garden with barbecue behind the house, and the house is surrounded by an old olive yard.

Infrastructure

The house is connected with the public water and electricity network. The kitchen has a cooking plate which uses gas. There’s a microwave, a fridge with freezer and washing machine. A cassette/CD player is available. There is electric heating, for which consumption in winter is calculated apart. Down blankets and bed sheets are provided free of charge. The house will be neat and clean when you arrive. It is expected that you’ll also leave it in the same condition.
